Leadership has evolved over the years from transactional management styles, to leadership and decision making through inclusion and collaboration. But, we have a dynamic generation upon us that we must learn from and adapt with! What variables shape their perspective of leadership, and what influencing factors affect the post-modern team In my research study, I will explore these variables and influencing factors, delving in to professionalism, communication, and the authentic and genuine self.
Dr. Tom Snell, President of Columbia College in Calgary, Alberta, compiled a strategic list of professional attributes for individuals within the organization through his Professional Code of Conduct (Snell, 2017). These attributes extend to the students and graduates of Columbia College, and form a baseline standard for entry in to industry.
My question, though, lies with the concept of leadership and the level of professional attributes that the leadership team carry, and how they affect organizational outcomes, whether positive or negative. What is the definition of professionalism, by whose standard, and does that perception vary based on the individual, their beliefs, and their background Through this study, I will explore the post-modern team, their values and their influencers, while proposing possibilities for future research, as we move forward in time.
