DSSML Homework1 The purpose of this project is to show your ability to model and simulate real life systems using Arena and suggest ways to improve these systems depending on your simulation outputs. At the end of the project study you have to give a recommendation about how to improve the system or how to redesign the system. The project weighs 13 marks out of your total lab marks and it will be evaluated as follows: ? 15 minutes -power point presentation describing : o The system you are modeling and the purpose of your simulation. o Input data & model assumptions o Simulation model o Running the model you have built on Arena. o Show the results of your simulation and output statistical analysis (including number of replications and simulation accuracy). o Suggestions to improve and optimize the modeled system Suggested simulation examples: Bank elevators airports restaurants manufacturing plants offices warehouse traffic intersection computer lab Computer Net air traffic network railroad stations inventory control barber shop baseball game and party. Project proposal: Describe the problem you are willing to simulate and the purpose of your simulation. The suggested problem might be approved altered or dropped and a new one could be suggested. Submission: ? Submit your project proposal on 30/10/2010 or 1/11/2010. ? The project presentations will be scheduled in classes on 27-28/11/2010 ? Groups are allowed for this project ideal size is 2~3 students in a group. ? Copied projects will deserve the mark of zero. ? Late submission will be subject to lose 50% of the total mark.
