For the first topic your answer should
consider the importance of organizing for women specifically for
society more generally and for unions themselves. For the second topic
consider the general and specific challenges that make it difficult to
organize workers in the sectors discussed in Unit 6 (e.g. the role of
employers workplace issues labour force issues and union policies).
Provide examples of the difficulties that you raise. For the third
topic highlight what you think are the lessons from both case studies
(SEWA in India and J4J in the United States).Review all of the
study questions from Unit 6 as you prepare your essay. Make an argument
that you support with evidence from the assigned readings for Unit 6.
You are not required to use sources other than the four articles
although you may refer to other material and your own experiences if you
wish to do so.Keep the following additional requirements in mind as they affect your grade for this assignment.
