Historically cultural and ethnic diversity was not aconsideration in the practice of human services. Instead it was aone size fits all mentality. In other words services weredelivered the same way to all clients despite their uniquecultural and ethnic backgrounds. As human services organizationsbecame more aware of the impact of culture and ethnicity on theirability to more effectively serve their clients they recognized aneed to tailor the delivery of human services. For example humanservices professionals in health care should be aware of howculture might influence an individuals beliefs attitudes andbehaviors towards human services professionals and health healingand wellness. Being sensitive to a clients beliefs attitudes andbehaviors can aid in properly meeting a clients needs.
