Information is power-those who have information have power. Becasue information gives them power it is human nature to want to keep that information not share it. Knowledge hoarding is a business habit that is hard to break. In fact it is an attitude that still characterizes many businesses. In a learning organization however we are asking people to share information.Getting people to share information may turn out to be one of the key challenges facing managers. Is it etical to ask people to share information that they have worked hard to obtain? What if performance eveluations are based on how well individuals do their jobs and how well they do their jobs is dependent on the special knowledge that they have? Is it ethical to ask them to share that information? What ethical implications are inherent in creating an organizational environment that promotes learning and knowledge sharing?
