Thanks for your posting. Its great you are able toutilize the same strategies in your personal life and in yourstudies. Jaschik (2011) comments Further he said thatcolleges need to shift attention away from measures of socialengagement (everything thats not academic) and toward academicengagement even if some of those measures of non-academicengagement help keep students engaged and enrolled. Its aquestion of what outcome you want he said. If the outcome isstudent retention and student satisfaction then engagement is agreat strategy. If however you want to improve learning andenhance the academic substance of what you are up to it is notnecessarily a good strategy (p.2). Do you agree or disagreewith this finding? Is social engagement during college such abad idea? How does it relate to critical thinking?
