Do newborns have pattern vision? Six 2-day old newborns and eight 2-week old infants were exposed to a series of 4 targets presented in a random sequence. One target was an un-patterned white paper and the other 3 targets contained patterns of a section of newspaper concentric circles and a schematic face. The outcome measure was the length of gaze in seconds at a particular target. The goal of the study way to determine whether the length of gaze differed depending on the target for the 2 day old and/or 2 week old babies.1) Which patterned target(s) if any did the 2 day-old newborns react to differently in terms of length of gaze from the un-patterned whiter paper?2) Which patterned target(s) if any did the 2 week-old infants react to differently in terms of length of gaze from the un-patterned white paper?3) Is there a statistical difference between the 2 day old and 2 week-old babies in terms of length of gaze regardless of the targets?
(note always best to note averages across all conditions was there a statistical difference?)Data:White Newspaper Circle Face Age
