Aegis Communications hired Southwest Desert Images LLC (SDI) to provide landscaping services for its property. SDI employee David Hoggatt was spraying an herbicide to control weeds around the Aegis building one day when he was told that the spray was being sucked into the building by the air-conditioning system and making people sick. The building was evacuated and employees were treated for breathing problems and itchy eyes. Aegis employee Catherine Warner who had previously suffered two heart attacks was taken to the hospital. It was determined that she had suffered a heart attack. She continued experiencing health complications that she blamed on exposure to the spray.
